CAITRIONA WALSH: A BIOGRAPHY
Caitriona Walsh studied music at The University College of Dublin between the years 1976 and 1978 where she qualified with a teaching diploma. In 1979 she moved to London and became a member of 'The New Seekers' pop group. Whilst with the group she also had a number one hit in Ireland entitled 'Viva Il Papa' in honour of the Popes visit to Ireland at the time. She returned to Dublin in 1981 where she worked as a session singer both in studio and live performance. In 1982 she was offered the lead role of Mabel in Noel Pearson's 'The Pirate's of Penzance'. The show was the most successful musical to run in Ireland. In 1983 she moved to London and became Music Supervisor/Contractor for UK Orchestras, a London based Film and Television Music Production Company. In 1987 she was appointed General Administrator of The London Chamber Orchestra overseeing all aspects of concert performance, recordings and touring.
